The Journey Begins - Page 2 Empty Re: The Journey Begins

As Phlegethon got closer to the detachment, the human cleric he spotted released some heretical magic out of her hand, which formed into a beam and flew right above his head.  Phlegethon turned to look at what kind of carnage the magic caused, only to see it decimating a demon behind him.  In the distance he also spotted Alisa, who was struggling behind him.  He had momentarily forgot about her, but only because he did not think she would follow him this deep into enemy territory.  He had thought she would follow the retreating army.

Phlegethon quickly jammed his greatsword into the ground and pulled out a throwing ax, composed of a wooden hilt and an arch-shaped iron head, called a francesca.  Building up power in his arm by winding back, the orc threw it straight at the demon that was harassing Alisa.  Although he was not extremely well-trained in the art of its use, he threw it with such force that the ax-head collided with the demons body and the hard surface bludgeoned itself right into the demons inner abdomen, incapacitating the creature in the process.

"I applaud your bravery, human!  You will certainly receive a raise!"  Phlegethon called out across the battlefield in jest and signaled for her to come with.  "Follow me closely, these demons are not yet organized enough to stop us."

With that, Phlegethon retrieved the greatsword lodged into the ground and continued on, charging forward once again this time with greatsword in hand.  The demons in front of him were equally fearless and met his blade with a passion that could only be called demonic, and like that two were struck down with quick beheadings.  However, Phlegethon could feel the limitations of both his equipment and his body as he noticed his movements becoming slightly more sluggish than usual.  Even Orcish constitution could not erase the fact he had been in battle for some time now against the human and elf coalition.  Even a bigger issue, he could tell the greatsword was becoming dull and he had to exert more force in order to completely disembody the demons - after all, the sword itself was not made to cut straight through limbs.

Phlegethon let out a battlecry as if to boost his own confidence and propel him forward, and he made a final charge towards the objective.  One last demon jumped into his path and both their swords collided together in a competition of metalwork, to which the demons sword seemed to hold the advantage, as it bent Phlegethon's sword.  The demon pressed the advantage by going in closer to the orc, attempting to rush and pierce him through the chest, but Phlegethon took advantage of his own greatswords massive height and weight by using the guard on the hilt to smash the demons hand into his own sword.  Using the opening, Phlegethon jammed the greatsword into the demons own chest with one powerful stab.  The rusty blade still managed to crush through the chestbone and jam itself into the demons body, spraying a bit of black blood onto the poor elf he held.  As the demon collapsed, Phlegethon realized the sword itself was jammed.  Either way, he had made it to the small group.

"Greetings."  He spoke as he slowed to a more brisk pace, as he did not want to appear to be attempting to attack them.  "I am Phlegethon Nob-Grob.  Chieftain and now delivery boy for the Elvish princess here, Raisa Toraia."  He finally let his death grip on the elf loosen and set her down, and she breathed a sigh of relief as she was able to breathe again

Isador watches the Orc put the elf down, he says "Hail! Phlegethon chieftain of the orc war bands". he plants his spear into the ground and looks at the elf, he recognizes her as Princess Ni-rah Virgo, he kneels before her and takes her hand in his. "My lady Ni-rah, we will escort you from this battle"

Isador gets up and pull his spear free from the earth, and looks around the battlefield. Both armies seemed to have disengaged each other and were retreating with the daemons in pursuit slaughtering all who were unfortunate enough to get too close.

Daemons notice the party and start to encircle them, Isador sees this and starts to draw symbols in the dirt and starts muttering a prayer. "This is risky but i have no choice, if i don't use this magic we will be slaughtered." he thinks to himself

Christiana was shocked by the Orc's eloquence and propriety.  Despite this fact, she remained cautious of him until Isador responded in turn as if he was talking to a fellow officer.  If Isador was so willing to accept this enemy with open arms, she found it wise to do the same.  Regardless, there wasn't much she could have done - what with all the demons running around.

Christiana nodded to the towering behemoth and gave a smile of reassurance to the Elven princess.  Her body was extremely exposed, and she was covered in some kind of black secretion.  Christiana paused at the horror of what could have happened to her, but didn't let it show.  Another figure was standing next to him, and it seemed tired and scarred.  Christiana couldn't make out too many details of its appearance however, as it was hidden behind a cloak.

As demons encircled the group, Christiana saw Isador start to prepare a circle of exorcism.  Her eyes widened when she remembered how risky the procedure could be, particularly when the practitioner was under stress.  Mustering her own holy magic, she ran to Isador's side and placed her hands over his.  This won't guarantee a 100% chance of success, but it will at least reduce the possibility of a fatal failure., she thought to herself.

Before Christiana began chanting in unison, she glanced over to the Orc and his friend; shouting "Hold them off for us while we prepare this spell!".

Alisa frowns in thought "Great now we have to aid the enemy." she looks around observing the battle as well as looking at the new wound that with any luck would only be another scar down her torso, she sighs taking off her hood. "how do I get stuck in these situations surrounded by die hard morons." she mutters under her breath.

Alisa Looks back at the battle field seeing the losing battle on both sides to these hell born monsters her expression turns rigid raising her daggers in a defensive stance, In a quiet voice "defending the priest is my only option I suppose." she slashes down two daemons as they enter the range of her blades and smirks "well at least this will be fun." she cuts down another daemon that leaped towards the priestess.

After cutting down two more alisa takes a stand in the rear of the group as the Orc took his stand at the head. Over the noise of the battle she Shouts to the priest, "How much longer till that spell in complete?" she shouted as she cut down another advancing daemon panting from exhaustion.
