Space Marine RP
In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war.
On a retribution class battle cruiser high above the planet of Terra. Garren sits in his command chair watching the imperial navy men at work in their stations.
"It is time for us to depart" says Garren, at that command the navy personnel got even busier. Garren reaches and pushes the vox com button and speaks to the entire ship "Attention. we are departing for the dagabah system, we have received a distress signal from one of our outposts on the planet Cyan" he pauses letting the word reverberate throughout the entire ship "I also request the presence of the my passengers to the bridge" he lets go of the vox button and awaits his guests arrival.

Re: Space Marine RP
Ceres was staring out of one of the many numerous windows of the ship when the announcement was made. "Attention, we are departing for the Dagabah system. We have received a distress signal from one of our outposts on the planet Cyan."
Ceres did not cut his gaze from the window, but he contemplated the brevity of the situation.
"I also request the presence of the my passengers to the bridge.", the Vox Com rang out.
Ceres turned around and walked to the bridge.

Re: Space Marine RP
Ghost leaned against a nearby wall, staying out of immediate view from the rest of the passengers. Although it had no need to be completely secretive at the moment, it did not much enjoy the idea of being out in the open next to so many others. Still, it also did not want to perturb the commander, and so it gave a small gesture implying that it was already present in the room.

Re: Space Marine RP
Garren looks at his subordinates with an appraising eye, he looks at the 'specter' in the corner. He looks at the young Ultramarine before him, "I hope he isn't as ignorant as the last battle brother, he will live longer" he thinks sadly to himself remembering that horrible scene. Tearing himself away from the memory he says to the marine "it seems you will be getting some experience today, we have a job to do"
Garren gets up and walks over to the holo-table and brings up a map of the system and starts to plot the course of the ship. When he finished the course he brings up a holo-globe of Cyan and points to a lone mountains and enhances the image, as it zooms in you make out a fortress of gigantic proportions. Garren looks at his two subordinates "this is where the distress signal is originating, this is a holy temple and the Imperial fists are in charge of guarding this site"
"their forces is a full company numbering at about 100" "excuse me commander" says the Ultra marine chaplain in the bridge "if there is 100 Fists how can the 6 of us do anything to help them?". The Knight glares at the chaplain "cause the Emperor ordains it so" he says cooly. The chaplain turns and walks off the bridge.
"Enough idleness, lets warp and be on our way" says Garren, outside the ship you can see the hole in space open up as strands of lightning grab the ship and pull it inside. They arrive at Cyan and Garren says to the servo skull "grab my halberd and mantle and bring it to he launch bay" He turns to his subordinates let us get down to the launch bay and board the Thunder hawk" and with that he exits the bridge making the floor vibrate with his weight as he goes.

Re: Space Marine RP
As Garren exited the bridge, Ceres beckoned one of the many the servo skulls that were flying around them. "Fetch me a Bolter, a Bolt Pistol, and a few Grenades. Have them ready for me at the Thunder Hawk.", Ceres said casually.
As the servo skull floated away, Ceres turned to face Ghost. He couldn't make out this mysterious figure's gender; but its aura troubled him. After some reflection, he decided that it was best to avoid a conversation with it. This being, whatever it may be, did not look like the friendliest of folks.
Ceres followed Garren to the Thunderhawk. As he was walking, he began to think about the debrief. Ceres was taken back by the logistics of the situation, and was not satisfied with Garren's abrupt response to the Ultra Marine Chaplain's legitimate question. When he was finally in earshot, he asked earnestly, "Does the circumstances of this mission not trouble you, Sir?"

Re: Space Marine RP
"Do not pay any heed to the chaplain, he has always been weak of will" Garren stops to let that settle and then continues "we will not be alone in this endever a company of blood ravens are on standby on the planets surface, we will find out what has happened to the Imperial fists and we will eliminate it."
seeing that this still did not settle the matter the knights also says "they have a company compliment of a dreadnaught and a rhino, nothing will stop us from achieving our goal"

Re: Space Marine RP
Ceres was humbled by Garren's retort. He nodded his head in compliance and followed behind Garren silently; his mind at ease.
Re: Space Marine RP
As they entered the launch bay Garren saw the servo enter the room with his requested items, as he grabbed his halberd he nodes to the other squad members "let us board the thunder hawk and get to the surface and meet up with our brother chapter" as everyone entered the thunder hawk and strapped themselves in the seats Garren gives the okay to the pilot to disembark the launch bay and headed to the surface.
"maintain the ships in orbit until I give word otherwise" he says into the vox built into his helmet "aye sir" says the guardsmen at the helm. they were nearing the surface and the pilot says "prepare for landing"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80ilicGJjcQ
Garren is the first to exit the aircraft and sees the captain of the blood ravens waiting for him, "perfect timing brother" says Garren "indeed" says the captain. "what have you found out so far?" "nothing my lord everything has been pretty quiet on this rock." "Interesting" says Garren
He looks around seeing a desolate town
At that moment the air is split with the yelling "WAAAAAAGGHHHHH". Garren looks up at the horizon and sees movement. He yells to the captain "get your men ready there are orks on this rock" and then adds "take position up between those two buildings, i will take my team up to the fortress 6 clicks from here" "Yes my lord" answers the captain.
"you need to take that hill and place a flag there to signal the fleet to start dropping in reinforcements, I will call in air support for you" says Garren to which the captain replies "much appreciated sir" and with that Garren takes his squad and starts to the fortress as Garren issues commands to the fleet in orbit. The battle ensues behind them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFkFo5SBx-g

Re: Space Marine RP
Trekking behind the group, Ghost silently followed the marines from a short distance away, otherwise not attracting the others' notice. It paid an idle amount of attention to the conversation between the two marines, but was otherwise focused on reaching the objective and nothing more. The specifics of the mission did not concern it, nor did some random space marine banter, so it did not bother speaking up until they were seated to begin takeoff. It took its seat next to the spacemarine from earlier.
There was no reason to speak. Yet, it realized that it was unlikely that this spacemarine would still be alive by the end of the day. Such was the expected survival rate of this upcoming mission. Ghost did not feel sentimental or sorry; however, it was very rare for agents like itself to have partners during missions, so it felt it should say something before its partners death. It opened its mouth, its mask making a robotic breathing sound at the sudden exhale of air, and spoke in a casual tone.
"An Ultra Marine, huh?" It took another short breath before continuing, "I hope you impress me and manage to make it out alive."
Ghost's cryptic statement was meant to serve as words of encouragement, but the Ghost momentarily wondered if it had the intended effect. Regardless, Ghost sat back and waited for the landing to finish.
Eventually they landed and left the ship. Immediately, Ghost quickly glanced over the area. It did not like how things looked. Ghost was not the type to engage in the same kind of warfare that spacemarines were generally suited for, and it had to wonder exactly how high its own chances of survival were in this situation. It couldn't help but be cynical - at least spacemarines actually had armor to survive a few direct hits. Still, despite its cynicism, it wasn't going to accept defeatism.
Taking out its rifle, Ghost put its right eye to the scope and examined from afar a band of orks. They looked like the usual mess. Pathetic and easily killed by the simple pull of a trigger - yet there was enough of them that it didn't matter how weak each one was individually. One strong hit from one of their weapons would mean fatal injury for Ghost. Ghost lowered its rifle once again. It wasn't about to draw attention to itself in particular by shooting a round off, not yet anyway.
"Call the shots, commander."

The old Grey Knight hears the assassin next to him and holds up a hand "it is not our job to fight this rabble, we are here to reach to fortress and see what has befallen the Imperial fist garrison there". Garren then turns on his heel and beckons the squad to follow him up the hill to the bridge

Re: Space Marine RP
Ceres was in awe of the battle unfolding before him. He had been trained by The Ultra Marines, and even partaken a few skirmishes himself. But he had never witnessed such a display of bravery from his comrades before, or the true power that the Orks in such numbers are capable of outputting. It was exciting, it was humbling.
There was a tug in Ceres' very being to participate in this fight. The mysterious being also seemed poised for combat as it lifted its rifle and said in that creepy, mechanized voice ""Call the shots, commander.". He hoisted himself from the rank and file of the party and readied his Bolter to fire. His finger was about to squeeze the trigger, when suddenly...
Garren spoke out to Ghost, "It is not our job to fight this rabble, we are here to reach the fortress and see what has befallen the Imperial fist garrison there.". Ceres turned away from the Ork advancement and watched in sheer disappointment as the Grey Knight continued onward; paying no mind to his fellow Space Marines who were in the heat of battle.
Ceres was conflicted between two mindsets. On the one hand, he desperately wanted help in this "rabble"; but on the other hand - he had a yearning to head steadfast to what his commander, (whoever that may be) said. Right now, he decided to obey his commander. He walked back into the party line; a defeated man.

Re: Space Marine RP
Garren stops at the foot of the bridge, he notices it is made of stone with several stone arches spanning the length of the bridge. He sees a Land speeder on the other side of the bride facing his group, he shouts "Hail brothers, what is you status?" to which there is no reply from the vehicle.
Garren says to his squad "Hold your position here I shall go see what is wrong." he starts walking while the two grey knights follow close behind as Garren looks at the figures and shouts again "What is your status? Answer-"
The bridge crumbles under his feet engulfing him and his followers in falling debris, they land hard at the bottom of the gulley. Garren slowly stands hearing the shouts of surprise from the squad topside. "Make your way across the gulley, forget about me. Continue the mission!" he pauses making sure they heard it then continues "we will catch up with you at the fortress". Garren bends and picks up his force halberd and looks at the other grey knights, nodding his head.
They trio start walking along the bottom of the gulley to find a suitable place to get topside.

Re: Space Marine RP
Ghost walked closer to the bridge and looked down the hole the commander fell down, having been too far behind the group to really see what had happened. It quickly realized there was no use trying to get down there lest he wanted to break a few bones, so it backed up and glanced at the nearby spacemarine. It noticed that he is the same spacemarine from earlier. Although it did not mind working in groups, the only reason it was here in the first place was due to orders to follow the commander, so it did not want to waste time doing anything unnecessary like traveling with this spacemarine.
Looking over, Ghost noticed the land speeder. If the limiter on its suit wasn't placed on it, Ghost could probably channel enough psionic energy to make it across the bridge and reach the speeder; however, taking off the limiter was forbidden. In which case, it would have to rely on the spacemarine in this situation.
Gesturing towards the speeder, Ghost spoke in a slightly apathetic tone, "Any ideas, big guy?"

Re: Space Marine RP
With the bridge down Garren turns to his comrades "I have an idea brothers, lend me your halberd brother". The knight hands over his halberd, Garren walks over to the wall. He grabs just under the blade, pulls back his arm, and thrust the blade into the wall, then with an over head swing plunges the right weapon into the wall. Thrilled that his plans is working, he pulls the left one free of the wall and makes a over head swing.
After gaining momentum Garren quickly traverses the wall and reaches the top of the gulley with the speeder just a few feet from him, looking at the figures inside he sees blood from the bodies of the pilots. "May the Emperor light your way brothers" says Garren in a silent prayer
checking the area Garren goes back to the edge and drops the knights halberd to him, catching it and getting the second from his comrade he starts his way up the wall. Garren looks across the gulley at the 1st squad awaiting to see their strategy unfold.

Re: Space Marine RP
Ceres was inspired by the display of cunning used by Garren to traverse the obstacles that had been laid before him. If Ceres was to help his squad reach the other side of the canyon, he also needed to use whatever resources were readily available.
Ceres scanned the immediate area for some kind of answer to the prevailing question. Beyond the rubble and all about them was nothing but barren wasteland; with one exception. A towering, lonely column stood in defiance of the environment. This abomination to the planet's will would be of use to them.
"I think I do...", Ceres replied neutrally to Ghost. He was deep in thought as to what angle he should approach to column for the most optimum strike. Suddenly, it dawned on him.
With a mighty heave, Ceres turned away from the bridge and began to run in the opposite direction. Then, he banked hard to the right and came full circle - now facing the column directly. Within a matter of seconds, he would collide with the structure at this speed. When he was in a short distance away from the column, he jumped into the air and lifted his soles at a horizontal angle.
A mighty thud pierced the air as Ceres' attack ripped the column off its foundation and caused it to collapse. Just as he had hoped, the structure was tall enough to reach other side. A makeshift bridge had been born.

Re: Space Marine RP
Garren watched the display of ingenuity shown by this Ultramarine and was deeply impressed, this was a glorious day for the Emperor. As Garren watched the column fall towards his side of the gulley and land with a cloud a dust splashing away from the contact.
Garren then turns and faces away from the gulley and sees cliffs making a passage just big enough for 3 space marines to walk shoulder to shoulder.
"This is the right path to the fortress" says Garren to his fellow grey knight, "we should be there before nightfall" he continues and then turns to check on 1st squads progress

Re: Space Marine RP
Ghost was impressed by the display of raw physical power exhibited by the spacemarine, but it made no sign of such appreciation for the feat. As the dust began to settle, Ghost wasted no time hopping on to the new make-shift bridge. Parts of the pillar chipped away slightly with the introduction of extra weight, but Ghost's cat-like movements suggested such details were no threat to it. As if the shaky, eroding pillar were a non-issue not even worth giving another moments notice, Ghost quickly and without incident walked across to meet the spacemarines on the other side. Whether the other spacemarine was making any progress across the pillar, it did not care much and did not bother to check.
Moving over to the speeder, Ghost peered at the corpses for a moment, its mask taking in bits of information about the bodies. If Ghost cared to, it could run an autopsy, but it soon concluded that such a thing would be unnecessary. The names, background, and information about these pilots were all irrelevant to the mission, and the cause of death was evident enough. It wasn't long before Ghost lost interest completely and turned away, awaiting the other spacemarine.
